Jasmine Photography bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

Photography is my passion, my drive, my way of expressing myself. I love and appreciate many different mediums of art such as print making and sculpture but for me, photography is my chosen form of art. From capturing beautiful details on a wedding gown to a moment of laughter between friends, every click of the shutter creates a lasting memory. The images below are how I see people, objects and places through a lens. Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy!

Etain Wilday. Art Institute Fashion.

I love working with fashion design students at The Art Institute of Portland. By the time I meet them they are very close to graduating from their program and in the midst of putting together their senior portfolio. Students have the option to find their own photographer, some have friends shoot their looks and others decide to go with a professional. When it comes to your portfolio, cutting corners will always show, especially with photos. I give any students who want to work with me a student discount, this gives them chance to be able to afford quality images and see the difference.

I headed down to the Art Institute last weekend to meet up with the talented Etain Wilday. As with all students I shoot during their senior year, they are a bit flustered, nervous and excited for their photo shoot. These students work hours and hours to create one of a kind looks. What’s special about Etain is that she is specializing in costume and theatre designs. Take your time looking at the images below, she made everything you see on the models; the hats, the goggles, the jackets, boot covers etc! That is pretty amazing and takes a lot of dedication and time. I know it’s still a little ways off, but congrats Etain on graduating and good luck with your fashion endeavors!

Mandy loves photos!

Mandy Zelinka is the talented woman who cuts and colors my hair. I’ve known Mandy for awhile now and love that she loves photos! So when she told me she wanted to take pictures at the train station for her birthday, I said, “of course!”. Her and her sister had their make-up done and arrived with their men in tow for a vintage inspired shoot. Of course the weather was not that great but we still made use of the spaces around us. Here are some of my favorites from the session. Can’t wait until our next shoot Mandy! Enjoy.

If you are looking for stylish hair you can find her at Ginger Salon. Be sure to check out her blog called Salon NW.

The Wilson Family

Whether it’s the holidays, a birthday or a just a random get together; when the whole family gets together it’s always a great time for some pictures! I headed over to the Wilson family home right before Christmas to take some photos of everyone together and just hanging out. I really enjoy shooting in a families natural environment. I feel like it makes everyone more comfortable being around the camera and then people’s personalities shine through. It was a chilly day when I shot them but it wasn’t raining so that was good enough to sneak outside for a few photos. Here are some of my fav’s from the session. Enjoy!

Jewelry Photography

One thing you may not know about Jasmine Photography is that I also shoot commercial work. I don’t advertise it, so the shoots I do are mainly by word of mouth. I really enjoy shooting interiors and doing macro work on things like jewelry. My approach to these shoots is similar to how I shoot people and events, I like to work with the available light source. I like spaces and objects to be shown in their true form, not stylized or photoshopped so much that it changes it. This is why natural light is so wonderful. I always enjoy heading over to Big Girl Workshop to photograph Sharon’s new jewelry designs. She has so many affordable and cute necklaces that you can think of so many people that would want one! Great for gifts. Here are a few of Sharon’s latest and newest designs. You can see more of her work online at Big Girl Workshop.
